Last week, Samsung unveiled its new TV lineup. It consists of QLED, Neo QLED, Lifestyle, and OLED TVs. The company has announced that its Neo QLED and Lifestyle series TVs have received the EyeCare Circadian certification from VDA, which proves they are safer for your eyes.

Samsung's Neo QLED and Lifestyle TVs get VDE's EyeCare Circadian certification for better eye safety

Verband Deutscher Elektrotechniker (VDE), a world-renowned electrical engineering certification institute, has awarded the EyeCare Circadian certification to Samsung's Neo QLED 4K, Neo QLED 8K, and Lifestyle series TVs. The Lifestyle TV series includes The Frame and The Frame Pro.

Circadian Rhythm is a natural cycle of the human body. During this 24-hour cycle, behavioral, mental, and physical changes happen, and they are affected by dark and light environments around us. However, when your eyes go through a lot of screen time, it can affect your Circadian Rhythm, which may affect your sleep duration and quality.

VDE's EyeCare Circadian certification is awarded to those devices that support a human body's natural Circadian rhythm. It evaluates devices across six critical criteria:

  • Circadian Stimulus (CS) Index
  • Color Fidelity
  • Flicker Level
  • Gentle To The Eyes
  • Safety For Eyes
  • Uniformity

These criteria reveal how gentle or harsh a device is on people's eyes.

Samsung's EyeComfort Mode adjusts the screen brightness and color temperature according to the time of day and ambient lighting conditions. It stimulates natural light patterns to reduce eye strain during the day and offers warmer colors and reduced brightness at night.

Taeyong Son, Executive VP of Samsung DX, said, “This certification underscores our dedication to creating products that elevate the user experience by prioritizing eye comfort and reducing visual strain, all while delivering exceptional picture quality. We will continue to drive innovations that anticipate and adapt to users’ evolving needs, offering both immersive entertainment and sustainable long-term comfort.

Besides VDE's EyeCare Circadian certification, Samsung's TVs are also PANTONE-validated for color accuracy. Some models also have Underwriters Laboratories (UL) Glare-Free Verification, offered to TVs that reduce glare and reflections from nearby light sources.
