One UI 7.0 delay will only make its release more exciting

When is One UI 7.0 coming? Well, no one knows. Samsung rarely, if ever, tells us when a new version of One UI will be released. It simply makes the announcement the same day—or a day before—these updates start rolling out.Summarize in one-click with Galaxy AI

It's the same story for the beta programs the company runs for testing major new One UI updates before the official release. All the news and information we get comes from the rumor mill, which becomes particularly active this time of the year.

These rumors rarely turn out to be accurate. That's because that delays are all too common when it comes to big software updates. It's why Samsung usually stays mum until it knows an update—whether it's a stable build or a beta version—is ready for the masses.

And now, with Galaxy AI in the equation, those delays seem to have become an even bigger possibility. In fact, we can expect to see delays with every One UI update if Samsung intends to bring new AI features with each of them.

Compared to previous x.1 versions, One UI 6.1 took a couple of months longer to arrive on eligible devices. That was clearly because of the complexity of porting over the Galaxy S24's AI features to older devices. One UI 6.1.1 likely needs more time in the oven for the same reason.

Galaxy AI has likely thrown a wrench in One UI 7.0's release schedule

The delay in One UI 6.1.1's release will no doubt have a cascading effect on One UI 7.0. SamMobile's sources suggested the One UI 7.0 beta program could come in the third week of August, but right now, it appears to have been pushed to a later date. Samsung may also be looking at keeping the beta program as short and bug-free as possible.

And honestly, that isn't a bad thing. One UI 7.0 will bring substantial visual interface changes to Samsung's software, following a few years of mostly minor UI changes, and we can't wait to see it in action. And the longer we have to wait, the more exciting it will feel when the update becomes available.

That said, we have our fingers crossed Samsung will eventually find a way to go back to its usual pace of releasing One UI updates. Galaxy AI was introduced less than a year ago, so we understand it's new territory for the company. But it would be disappointing if we have to wait longer for every One UI update going forward.
