We've waited for a new Fan Edition smartphone to come out of Samsung's development labs for a long time, but our patience is finally paying off. Samsung has just announced the Galaxy S23 FE, and after spending roughly one week with a pre-release unit leading up to our hands-on video, we believe the new Fan Edition phone ticks the right boxes. But when can you buy one, and how much will it set you back?

Samsung hasn't revealed many details about the Galaxy S23 FE's availability globally, but the phone will be available in select regions from October 5. Buyers will get to pick from four standard color options and two online-exclusive colors, whose availability will likely vary by market.

Story continues after the video

Galaxy S23 FE is cheaper than the S21 FE at launch

The statement above is true, at least for the USA, where the Galaxy S23 FE will cost $599. Comparatively, the Galaxy S21 FE went live early last year for $699. And, needless to say, the 2023 model is superior in many ways to the S21 FE, even when you account for the time gap between the two.

The Galaxy S23 FE has a 6.4-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X Display with Vision Booster and an adaptive refresh rate of 60-120Hz. It's powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 or Exynos 2200 SoC, depending on the region, and it borrows flagship-grade camera features from the more expensive S22/S23 and S22+/S23+.

The phone boasts improved build quality with an aluminum frame and has an IP68 dust and water-resistance rating. The tech giant says it will support the Galaxy S23 FE for five years, including security patches and four major OS upgrades up to Android 17.

Samsung won't release the Galaxy S23 FE globally on the same day. Prospective buyers in some markets (including those in Europe) will have to wait longer, and Samsung hasn't shared more details, but we'll let you know as soon as that changes.
