MSI uses Samsung’s new QD-OLED panels in three gaming monitors

Samsung Display, Samsung's display manufacturing business division, unveiled its third-generation QD-OLED panels for monitors at CES 2025. Those panels have been used not only by Samsung but also by Alienware, ASUS, Dell, Gigabyte, MSI, and Philips. MSI unveiled three new gaming monitors:

  • MSI MPG 272QR
  • MSI MPG 272URX
  • MSI MPG 322URX

Let us have a look at these three monitors and their features.

MSI's new gaming monitors bring insanely high refresh rates, better brightness

MSI's new gaming monitors are brilliant, thanks to Samsung's third-generation QD-OLED panel that features an extra (fifth) electroluminescent layer for improved brightness. It also features a new sub-pixel structure that offers better readability.

They all come with a three-year warranty, which includes burn-in damage.

MSI MPG 272QR

MSI MPG 272QR QD-OLED Gaming Monitor

The MSI MPG 272QR has a 27-inch (technically, 26.5-inch) QD-OLED panel with QHD resolution, a 500Hz variable refresh rate, AMD FreeSync Premium Pro, and Nvidia G-Sync compatibility.

It has 250 nits of peak brightness, HDR brightness of 500 nits (10% window), and 1,000 nits of peak brightness on a 3% window. It has VESA DisplayHDR True Black 500 and VESA ClearMR 21000 certifications for exceptional viewing pleasure, especially during gaming.

It has height, pivot, swivel, and tilt adjustments. It also features a DisplayPort 2.1a port with UHBR20, two HDMI 2.1 ports, and a USB Type-C port with 98W of USB PD power output.

MSI MPG 272URX

MSI MPG 272URX QD-OLED Gaming Monitor

The MSI MPG 272URX, similar to the new Odyssey OLED G8 (G81SF), is a 27-inch 4K QD-OLED monitor with a 240Hz variable refresh rate. It is compatible with AMD FreeSync Premium Pro and Nvidia G-Sync.

It has 250 nits typical brightness, 450 nits HDR brightness on a 10% window, and 1,000 nits HDR brightness on a 3% window. It comes with VESA DisplayHDR True Black 400 certification.

It has one DisplayPort 2.1a port, two HDMI 2.1 ports, a USB Type-C port with 98W of USB PD power output and DP Alt Mode, two USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A ports, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a built-in KVM switch.

MSI MPG 322URX

MSI MPG 322URX QD-OLED Gaming Monitor

The MSI MPG 322URX is a 32-inch QD-OLED gaming monitor with 4K resolution and a 240Hz variable refresh rate. The monitor has 250 nits of typical brightness in SDR, 450 nits of brightness in HDR (10% window), and 1,000 nits of peak HDR brightness (3% window).

It has VESA's DisplayHDR True Black 400 and ClearMR 13000 certifications. They are compatible with AMD FreeSync Premium Pro and Nvidia G-Sync Compatible.

The monitor can be adjusted for height, pivot, swivel, and tilt. It has one DisplayPort 2.1a port, two HDMI 2.1 ports, a USB Type-C port with 98W of USB PD power output and DP Alt Mode, two USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A ports, one USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-B port, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a built-in KVM switch.
